Intro to
Ski Touring

A two day course that will set you up for a lifetime of untracked skiing.

about the course

Curriculum: You will spend two days with an ACMG guide. The first day you will include and avalanche safety briefing, gear checks and equipment use, maintenance, and storage, as well as trouble shooting strategies. Track setting and efficient mountain travel in snow is emphasized. The second day will include more ski touring so that you can hone your touring skills and manage transitions efficiently.  

At the end of the course you will:

Be able to efficiently set up and use your equipment

Know how to stay comfortable in the winter mountain environment

Understand nuances of terrain and how to set a good skin track

Master transitions for comfort and speed

Have a basic understanding of avalanche safety equipment and rescue, although this is not a substitute for an AST course

Prerequisites: None.

Guide: ACMG guides teach this course.

Course fee: $265 + 5% GST and includes two days of instruction with an ACMG guide.
