about the course

Curriculum: You will spend the day receiving instruction and mentorship from an experienced, local, ACMG Ski Guide. The day will start off with a basic avalanche safety briefing before heading out on the trail. All aspects of ski touring will be covered, such as, techniques for managing your climbing skins, touring bindings, touring boots, what to pack, route-finding, track setting, where to find avalanche information, and more.   

At the end of the course you will:

Be able to efficiently set up and use your equipment

Know how to stay comfortable in the winter mountain environment

Understand nuances of terrain and how to set a good skin track

Master transitions for comfort and speed

Have a basic understanding of avalanche safety equipment and rescue, although this is not a substitute for an AST course

Prerequisites: None.

Guide: ACMG ski guides teach this course.

Course fee: $149 per day + 5% GST. Book both days and receive 10% off. Includes instruction with an ACMG guide. Lift tickets may be required for an additional fee (please email us for discount info).
